JULY EIGHTH

She is the sea. He gets caught in the throes of her waves. He thinks: how he longs for the slow but assured certainty – Of the sun. And then she leaves, as she usually does. Today, the sun on the back of his neck, his face, his arms, he stands there on the beach. Waiting for another wave.
